The regulator names the company Apple names

The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority publishes a list of licensed operators. It contains this row, which we retrieved directly:

Three separate things line up there. The company name is the seller of record Apple prints on the listing. The trade name is the name on the app. And the register’s own category for the row covers online casino as well as online sports betting — the same pair the store listing is filed under, rather than a sports-only permission stretched over a casino, which is the gap we had to report on Gwalabet.

That is a regulator confirming a licensee by name, under the brand the app carries, in the country the app is listed in, which is a better class of evidence than an operator’s account of itself. It also fits Apple’s guideline 5.1.1(ix), which expects a gambling app to be submitted by a legal entity that provides the services. Here, on the available evidence, it was.

The same authority publishes a list of unlicensed operators, and neither OROBET nor Surebet247 appears on it. We report that and then discount it: checking those two lists against each other for 1win turned up operators sitting on both at once, so absence from the second one is weak evidence. The licensed entry is what is doing the work.

The published licence period has already run out

The register gives the period as ending 31 July 2026. We checked on 8 August 2026. The period the regulator publishes had therefore ended eight days before we looked at it, and no renewal appears against the entry.

Read that as a fact about the register rather than about the operator, because it is what most of the register looks like: roughly two-thirds of the operator rows on that page carry an end date already in the past, which is the count we published on Odogwu Bet. The page records no renewals and carries no last-updated date of its own, so an ended period here is a gap in what the Authority publishes, not evidence of what happened. Anyone leaning on it should open the register themselves rather than trust our retrieval date.

What an advisory actually is

The age rating row above carries six descriptors, matched only by LulaBet, where most betting listings we track declare two. Where those come from is worth being precise about.

Advisories are not Apple’s findings about an app. They are the developer’s own answers to the age rating questionnaire in App Store Connect: the publisher selects which content types the app contains and how often each occurs, and Apple computes a rating from the selections. So the list is what this publisher told Apple about its own product.

The combination is what stands out. Apple’s descriptor definitions separate “Gambling”, which is wagering real money, from “Simulated Gambling”, which is play with no real stake; this listing declares both, as several here do. “Loot Boxes” — randomised paid items, a purchase whose contents you learn after paying — is declared on no other listing in our snapshot.

What any of that maps to inside the app we cannot say, because we have looked at nothing beyond the store listing. But if randomised paid mechanics are something you avoid, the publisher has declared them here, and that declaration is the only signal you get before installing.

What the store data cannot settle

English only is not the omission it would be elsewhere. Where a market has a widely-used language other than English, an English-only build shows the app was not localised for it. Where English is the language of business, it tells you little.

The rating is twelve votes short of meaning anything. This site treats an average as information only above fifty ratings. The 38 ratings here sum to 147 stars, so the twelve further votes that would reach fifty could by themselves land the average anywhere between 3.2 and 4.1, depending on nothing but who taps.

The maintenance record is the quiet strength. A publisher still shipping fourteen months after first release is behaving differently from one that filed once and walked away. The notes on that update read “Bug fix” in full and tell you nothing, so the interval is the evidence and the note is not.

Who this is for

If this app appears in your App Store, it is free, and the seller name on it matches a licensed entry in the Lagos State register — check that name yourself rather than taking ours.
