Casino registration — what you are actually signing up to

Opening a betting account takes two minutes and commits you to a specific company, in a specific country, under a specific regulator. Using 1xBet as the worked example, here is how to find out which one before you register.

Registration forms are all the same and none of them tell you the thing that matters. The form asks for a phone number and a password. What you are agreeing to is a contract with a named company, licensed by a named regulator, in one particular country — and for a brand that operates in several, which company depends on where you downloaded the app.

This guide is about finding that out first. The form itself takes two minutes and needs no instructions.

1xBet, as the worked example

1xBet does not publish one app. Our sweep of every App Store storefront found its listings split across four separate developer accounts — one covering most of its markets, and a different locally licensed company for each of three others. The 1xBet record lists every listing and its publisher, read straight from Apple’s store data rather than typed here.

These are different legal entities. Not brands, not regional offices — separate companies, each of which submitted its own app to Apple.

That is not a loophole; it is the rule working. Apple requires that a real money gaming app has

necessary licensing and permissions in the locations where the app is used, must be geo-restricted to those locations

— App Review Guidelines 5.3.4

and that apps in regulated fields are submitted by

a legal entity that provides the services, and not by an individual developer

— App Review Guidelines 5.1.1(ix)

A licence covers one jurisdiction. To be listed and lawful there, the operator has to be somebody holding that jurisdiction’s licence. So the brand licenses its name to a locally licensed company, and that company — not the brand — is your counterparty.

What this changes for you at registration: your account terms, the currency, the payment methods, the bonus offer, the regulator you complain to, and the courts that would hear a dispute all come from that entity — not from “1xBet” in the abstract. A support answer, a bonus screenshot or a forum thread about 1xBet in one country may describe a company you have no relationship with.

You can see which one applies to you before you register. On the App Store listing, under Information, the Seller field names the company. That is the same string we recorded in our sweep, and it is the name that should appear in the terms you accept.

The same is true of 1win, which publishes several regionally-localised listings, and it is true in reverse of most brands we track: they appear in exactly one storefront, where the publisher, the licence and the market are one and the same, which makes them much simpler to check. The app comparison shows which is which.

What to establish before you fill in the form

1. The publisher name. App Store listing → Information → Seller. Write it down.

2. The licence. The operator’s site names a licensing authority and usually a licence number, in the footer. Then check that number in the regulator’s own register rather than believing the footer — a licence claim on a website is a claim, and we have found claims that did not survive the check. How we verify shows what each register said for the brands here, and why your App Store has no casino app explains how to search a register yourself.

3. Whether it is legal for you. Geo-restriction means the app is listed only where the operator holds a licence. If it is not in your App Store, that is the answer to the question — see why casino apps go missing. Changing your App Store country gets you the download and does not get you a lawful account, because the account is bound by where you actually are.

4. The withdrawal terms. Read them before registering, not after winning. Minimum withdrawal, accepted methods, and whether withdrawals must return by the deposit route — see casino payment methods.

5. The bonus terms, if you intend to take one. Specifically the wagering multiple. A welcome offer is a turnover target, and the arithmetic decides whether it is worth having. You usually have to opt in during registration or on the first deposit; opting in later is often impossible.

Filling in the form

The fields vary. Three decisions inside them are hard to undo:

Your name must match your ID exactly. Verification compares the account name against the document you will eventually upload — character for character, including middle names and spellings. A mismatch means manual review at the moment you want to withdraw. This is the single most common self-inflicted delay, and it costs nothing to avoid at registration.

Your currency is usually permanent. Most operators will not change it after the account is created. Pick the one your payment method is denominated in, or you will pay a conversion spread on every deposit and every withdrawal.

One account per person. Duplicate accounts are grounds for closing all of them and forfeiting balances, under essentially every licence, because customer due diligence obligations (Directive (EU) 2015/849, Articles 11 and 13) are written per customer, not per login. If you already have an account and cannot get in, recover it — do not open a second.

Registration by phone number or “one click” produces a real account with real money in it. It just defers the identity questions, and defers them to the least convenient moment. Whatever the form offers, fill in the full details now and upload your documents the same day: see KYC verification for what will be asked and why.

What we did not check

We describe what registration commits you to, sourced to Apple’s rules and to the App Store records we collected ourselves. We did not open an account with any operator on this site, and we did not walk through any operator’s registration form: their websites do not resolve from our network, so any screen-by-screen description of one would be a reconstruction rather than an observation. Where a step depends on a specific operator’s form, check it on their site.
