LEONBET on iOS — a Tanzanian licence

What the store returns

We queried 183 App Store country storefronts on 6 August 2026, with no lookup failures. LEONBET returned a result in one of them — Tanzania — and in none of the other 182. It is free, and the seller of record is SANDSTORM COMPANY LIMITED.

The bundle identifier is tz.co.leonbet.mobile5. The languages are English and Swahili. The listing has been running since 12 May 2025.

The regulator confirms the licensee

This is the strongest verification on this site, so it is worth being precise about what it is.

The Gaming Board of Tanzania publishes registers of licensed operators. Sandstorm Company Limited appears in the sports betting register, trading as Leon Bet. The same company appears in the internet casino register under the same trade name.

So the company Apple names as the seller of this app is the company Tanzania’s regulator names as a licensee, under the brand the app carries. That is a regulator confirming a licensee by name, which is a materially better class of evidence than an operator’s own claim about itself — and better than anything we could establish for the other app we track.

It also fits Apple’s guideline 5.1.1(ix), which says apps in highly regulated fields including gambling “should be submitted by a legal entity that provides the services”. Here, on the available evidence, it was.

The licence trail everywhere else, which is a mess

If you read reviews of the LEON brand, you will be told it holds a Curaçao licence, or a Kahnawake permit, or both. We checked the registers those claims name.

The Curaçao licence is revoked. The Curaçao Gaming Authority’s Online Gaming License Registry, updated 29 July 2026, contains at row 653:

OGL/2024/356/0288 — Moonlite N.V. — B2C — 140186 — December 12, 2024 — Revoked as of November 10, 2025, at the request of the [licensee]

OGL/2024/356/0288 is precisely the licence number some review sites still quote for LEON, and Moonlite N.V. is one of the companies they name as its operator. It was revoked on 10 November 2025 — at the licensee’s own request, which the register states explicitly and which matters: a voluntary surrender is not an enforcement action, and reading it as one would be wrong.

The Kahnawake permit is not there. The Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission publishes a list of interactive permit holders. It contains no entry for Leon, Moonlite, Jade Reef Ventures, or any leon domain.

The live licence is Anjouan, and it expires soon. The Anjouan Gaming Authority’s public register contains this record, which we retrieved directly:

Two details there are worth having. The expiry is roughly eight weeks after we checked, so anyone relying on it should re-check rather than trust this page’s date. And twin.com and twinbz.bet sit under the same licence as the LEON domains — Leon and Twin are the same licensee.

What none of this covers is the app. The Anjouan licence lists .bet, .com, .casino and .net domains. It does not list leonbet.co.tz, and it is not the licence behind the Tanzanian app. The Tanzanian app rests on the Tanzanian licence, which is the one we could confirm.

And we did not check every LEON domain. The brand runs across a long list of them, and there is evidence their corporate footers are not identical — different domains name different operating companies. We verified the three registers above and we are not going to extrapolate from them to domains we did not open. Treat this section as covering the claims we found, not as a complete map of the brand.

The practical upshot: “LEON” is not one licensed entity but several arrangements in different jurisdictions, and a review quoting you a single confident licence number without naming the territory has not checked. If you open an account, the entity named on your contract, for your domain, is the one that matters — not the brand on the logo, and not what this page says about a different domain.

The size, and what we will not say about it

The download is 93.5 MB — 98,006,016 bytes. The other app we track is 1.9 MB, roughly one forty-eighth the size.

We are reporting both numbers and drawing no conclusion from them, because we have not installed either app and a byte count does not establish how software is built.

What else Apple’s data says

It runs on iOS 15.0 or later. There is no iPad build: the listing carries six iPhone screenshots and zero iPad ones, and declares no universal support.

It is categorised under Sports only. Its content advisories are “Infrequent/Mild Simulated Gambling” and “Gambling” — the second is the one that matters, since Apple defines Gambling as wagering with real money as against simulated play. Content rating is 17+.

We have not seen the listing’s description text, so we are not going to tell you which games the app contains. If that is your question, the operator’s own site is the place to ask it.

The update record

The listing first appeared on 12 May 2025 and the current version, 1.1.2, shipped on 22 July 2026 — fourteen months later. The release notes say nothing useful. The dates are the evidence.

Who this is for

If your App Store is set to Tanzania, this is the listing, the seller name matches the regulator’s register, and the bundle identifier above is how you confirm you have the right one.

If it is set anywhere else, the app is not available to you, and no VPN changes that — your storefront follows your Apple Account, not your traffic. What changing your App Store country does and does not do.
